Authenic Discipleship in Christ through Reflective ChristianitySeries Books.
Christianity: Essentials, The
This book is not meant to be exhaustive. Instead, it serves as a clear, concise reminder of the great truths of the Christian faith — the essentials that shape our walk with Christ. Each chapter revisits themes explored more deeply in other works of this series, bringing them together here as a compact guide for reflection, encouragement, and renewal.
The Christian life begins with God Himself: His nature, His love, and His righteousness. From the beginning in the Garden, through the cross, to the promise of restoration in the New Jerusalem, God reveals His character and His purposes. He is holy, just, and gracious — and His plan of salvation requires judgment but offers mercy through Christ.
The believer is called to respond. By faith alone we are saved, not by works, yet true faith always produces works. Repentance is more than sorrow; it is turning from sin and toward Christ. Sanctification begins at conversion but continues as a lifelong process, shaped by the Spirit’s fruit, gifts, and guidance. Prayer, praise, worship, communion, and the study of God’s Word are not optional extras but lifelines that root us in His presence.
The essentials also remind us who we are: sojourners in a foreign land, citizens of another Kingdom, living in two worlds at once. We are called to resist pride, endure trials, embrace wisdom, and remember that life unfolds in seasons under God’s hand. Spiritual warfare is real, but victory is secure because Christ has already overcome.
Some truths remain urgent for the Church today: to heed the Great Commission, to remain alert against being unequally yoked, to understand the unseen realm, and to cling to the Holy Spirit not as an “it” but as the living Person of God. These are not side matters — they are essentials that shape how we live, serve, and endure.
Ultimately, The Essentials is a roadmap back to the foundations. It calls us to live not as casual believers but as devoted disciples — anchored in Scripture, empowered by grace, and pressing forward with hope. This book is both a summary and a call: to remember what matters most, to live it daily, and to long for the day when faith becomes sight.
